I thought i’d get really into this and post things almost everyday… oh well I guess I’ve been busy lately maybe I’lll start using this site more in the future who knows??
I realize that pain and loss are a natural and inevitable part of life, but there are two sides to every coin. Success and pleasure are also inevitable in life if you focus on the positives and recognize that you have to take the good with the bad. Nothing in life is perfect, but its life’s imperfections that make the good things feel good, and the bad things well…bad. I’ve been through a lot recently and there’s one thing I’ve definitely come to realize. Life is something that’s meant to be taken one step at a time. Day by day. I am meant to be involved in the present moment rather than contemplating my past or worrying about the uncertainties of the future. Living in the moment is sort of a tough skill to learn, but I intend to practice it until I have it down. I don’t feel like fretting over the things that have happened in the past or the things in the future that I cannot control. I feel like accepting life as it is now and working towards a positive future by enjoying the present. If I may quote a line from a well-known Incubus song (Drive) “Whatever tomorrow brings I’ll be there, with open arms and open eyes.”

Jack Black and Kyle Gass upon their faithful steed… Man, I wish I could paint like that. Props to the artist
The first thing I noticed when I got to the gym today was that there was only one open parking spot in the entire lot. I quickly snatched it up and proceeded to make my way onto the very crowded gym floor where after weaving in and out of people I climbed up the steps and took the last of the open treadmills. During my hour long run I couldn’t help but notice all the new faces of people I had never seen before. Every single piece of equipment seemed to be in use, and I had never seen the place so busy. I’ll be the first one to say “That’s f*cking awesome!” I know a lot of people get annoyed when the gym is too crowded right after new year’s, but to me its refreshing to see so many people making a renewed commitment to their health and well-being. If you are bothered by the influx of new members just try to stay away from the gym during peak hours, like Monday through Thursday from 4 to 7. In my opinion the more the merrier, and though I know that only a small percentage of resolutioners will actually keep up with their new commitment I’m just glad to see people making a conscious effort to get healthy. This year I’ll be the one encouraging new members to stick with it and giving advice rather than scowling at them because they are using the machine that I have to wait for. We should welcome as many people as possible into our gym, because health and wellness isn’t something that should be reserved for the select few, it is something that the entire nation needs embrace and incorporate into everyday living!
